In Loving Memory of Joel Lutz — Visionary Leader, Beloved Friend, and Faithful Servant

With heavy hearts and profound sorrow, we share the heartbreaking news of the passing of Joel Lutz, Co-Founder and President of mosaiXmultiply (mXm), who left this world on the evening of Thursday, July 17, 2025. While his passing was due to natural causes, the weight of our grief feels anything but natural. Joel’s sudden departure has left a deep void in our hearts, in our community, and in the global mission he poured his life into.

A Life Defined by Vision, Faith, and Love

Joel was far more than a leader to us — he was a loving husband, devoted father, trusted mentor, visionary leader, and faithful follower of Jesus Christ. His life reflected a rare combination of relentless purpose and humble service. Joel had the unique gift of seeing potential in people and movements long before others recognized it. He carried a heart for the nations and a passion for seeing lives transformed by the power of the Gospel.

Through his leadership at mosaiXmultiply, Joel dedicated his life to a mission greater than himself — equipping and empowering everyday people to plant gospel-centered communities in their neighborhoods and cities. His vision wasn’t limited by borders, cultures, or backgrounds. Under his leadership, mXm grew into a vibrant, multicultural movement, connecting leaders across nations and mobilizing them with a shared purpose: to advance God’s kingdom through missional living, multiplication, and genuine community.

The Heartbeat of mosaiXmultiply

Joel’s leadership at mXm wasn’t defined by titles or accolades. It was defined by his unwavering commitment to people. His ability to inspire, encourage, and mobilize leaders from diverse walks of life set the tone for everything mXm represents today. Joel believed that ordinary people, empowered by the Holy Spirit, could do extraordinary things when equipped with the right tools and sent with love.

He built more than an organization — he built a family. A global family of leaders, believers, and communities united by the dream of seeing the Gospel flourish in every corner of the world. His hands-on approach, genuine care, and infectious passion fueled a movement that continues to grow and impact lives daily.

A Legacy That Will Endure

Joel’s legacy isn’t just written in organizational milestones or movement metrics. It’s written in the countless lives he touched personally — the leaders he mentored, the families he supported, and the friends he journeyed with. His life is a testament to what it means to love Jesus fully and to love people unconditionally.

Though we mourn, we also celebrate a life poured out in faith. We take comfort in knowing that Joel now worships before the throne of our Savior, joined with brothers and sisters from every nation, tribe, and tongue — the very vision he dedicated his life to making a reality.

Walking Through This Season Together

The pain of this loss is profound. As a community, we are grieving — yet we do not grieve without hope. Joel’s heart continues to beat within the mission of mXm and in the hearts of those he loved and led. In this season of sorrow and remembrance, we ask for your prayers for Joel’s family — his beloved wife, children, and extended family — and for the entire mosaiXmultiply community.

May we honor his memory by continuing the work he so passionately championed — equipping, empowering, and multiplying communities of faith around the world.
