In Loving Memory of John Bearce – A Valued Teammate, Friend, and Automotive Professional

It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness that the O’Connor Auto Park team announces the passing of our dear colleague and friend, John Bearce, who served as our Used Car Manager for more than two decades. A man of integrity, discipline, and quiet dedication, John’s sudden departure has left a profound void not only within our dealership family but also across the broader automotive community in which he spent his life and career.

John brought with him a wealth of experience when he joined O’Connor’s over 20 years ago. With an impressive background that included time at Cold Brook Saab, Davis Auto Mall, and Chambers Chevrolet, John was known for being the kind of person who didn’t just work in the auto industry—he lived it. His knowledge ran deep, and his professionalism set the standard for all who had the pleasure of working alongside him.

Known affectionately by many as a “numbers guy,” John had an uncanny ability to recall vehicle specs, sales figures, VINs, and service dates with laser precision. His memory was as sharp as his eye for detail. Whether he was managing inventory, evaluating a trade-in, or running reports, John’s efficiency and accuracy were unmatched. He approached every task with discipline, and no detail—no matter how small—ever went unnoticed.

But beyond the spreadsheets and polished cars, John was a man of principle. He believed in doing things the right way. He was dependable, steady, and incredibly organized. It was no surprise that even on his days off—especially when the sun was shining—you’d find him meticulously washing his car, carefully buffing and drying every inch until it gleamed. It wasn’t just about keeping things clean—it was about pride in what he did. That same pride carried over into his work, his relationships, and how he carried himself day in and day out.

Colleagues remember John for more than just his work ethic—they remember his quiet humor, his insightful conversations, and the calm sense of order he brought to the team. Customers trusted him. Staff respected him. And many of us considered him more than a co-worker—he was a mentor, a constant, and a true friend.

Outside the office, John had a deep love for the sea. It was his retreat, his peace. Whether it was a weekend by the coast or a quiet walk along the shoreline, he found solace in the rhythm of the waves. His heart was as steady as the tide, and those closest to him knew that while he didn’t seek the spotlight, his presence was always felt and always appreciated.

John was also a devoted and loving husband, and his family meant the world to him. He spoke of them often, and it was clear that his role as a husband was the one he cherished above all. His personal life reflected the same care and commitment he brought to his professional life—measured, loving, and unwavering.

As we grieve this tremendous loss, we also give thanks—for the time we had with John, for the lessons he taught us through his actions, and for the steady, guiding influence he provided for so many years. The showroom won’t feel the same without his quiet footsteps, his well-placed notes, or his knowing smile. But his memory will live on in every car detailed with care, every deal done with honesty, and every person who remembers how he made their day just a little easier.

To John’s family: we extend our deepest condolences and gratitude for sharing him with us all these years. Please know that his legacy here is enduring, and his absence will be deeply felt.

Rest in peace, John. May the road rise up to meet you, and the sea sing you home. You will be missed more than words can say.
