Security Guard Fatally Shot Outside Anaheim Bar; Suspect Still at Large

ANAHEIM, CA — The city of Anaheim is reeling after a senseless act of violence claimed the life of 48-year-old Salvador Ramirez, a dedicated security guard who was shot and killed while on duty outside a local bar. The tragic shooting occurred on the night of June 22, 2025, outside 99 Bottles & Cocktails, a bar located at 8901 Katella Avenue.

Deputies from the Orange County Sheriff’s Department responded swiftly to reports of gunfire shortly after the shooting took place. When they arrived at the scene, they found Ramirez, a Fountain Valley resident, suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. Despite the rapid response and urgent medical attention, Ramirez succumbed to his injuries the following day at a local hospital.

According to investigators, Ramirez was employed as a security guard at the establishment and was working the night shift when the shooting occurred. Authorities have confirmed that the shooter fled the scene on foot before deputies could arrive. As of now, no arrests have been made, and the suspect remains at large.

Detectives have described the suspect as a Hispanic male, though further identifying details have not been released. The motive behind the shooting is still under investigation, and it remains unclear whether the attack was targeted or random.

“This was a horrific and cowardly act,” said a spokesperson for the Orange County Sheriff’s Department. “Mr. Ramirez was simply doing his job—protecting patrons and staff. He did not deserve this. Our hearts are with his family and loved ones.”

Salvador Ramirez was more than just a security guard. Friends, coworkers, and members of the community describe him as a gentle, hardworking man who took pride in keeping others safe.
