The shooting occurred at approximately 8:51 p.m. on June 9, 2025, when officers assigned to District C-11 (Dorchester) were dispatched in response to a ShotSpotter activation in the vicinity of 11 Levant Street. Boston EMS responded promptly to the scene, providing emergency medical care before transporting the victim to Boston Medical Center. Despite the efforts of first responders and medical personnel, Mr. Cardoso was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
The area was immediately secured as officers began canvassing the neighborhood for witnesses and evidence. Crime scene investigators could be seen combing the street, marking shell casings, and collecting forensic material in the aftermath of the shooting. Detectives have not yet released information regarding any possible suspects or motives, and no arrests have been made as of this writing.
