Cambridge Police Investigate Tragic Homicide of 23-Year-Old Alyson Elien: Community Urged to Come Forward
CAMBRIDGE, MD – June 8, 2025 — A wave of sorrow and outrage has swept through the Cambridge community following a tragic and senseless act of violence that claimed the life of 23-year-old Alyson Elien, a resident of Seaford, Delaware. Cambridge Police Department (CPD) officials are actively investigating the fatal shooting, which occurred Sunday evening in the 900 block of Camelia Street.
At approximately 8:33 p.m., CPD officers and detectives were dispatched in response to reports of gunfire in a residential neighborhood. Upon arrival, officers discovered Elien laying outside a vehicle in a driveway, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the head. Immediate life-saving efforts were performed until Dorchester County EMS arrived on the scene and transported Elien to the University of Maryland Shore Medical Center at Cambridge, where he was later pronounced dead.
Disturbing Details Emerge
Initial findings at the crime scene paint a grim and deeply troubling picture. Officers recovered a handgun and additional physical evidence near the vehicle. According to CPD, video surveillance from multiple nearby camera systems proved instrumental in piecing together the timeline of events and identifying those involved.
What is particularly distressing, authorities report, is that video footage captured a number of bystanders and individuals present during the incident who did not attempt to render aid to the dying victim. Through careful analysis of the footage and evidence, CPD detectives have identified a primary suspect, and criminal charges are actively being filed. Law enforcement is now working to locate and apprehend the individual, who remains at large as of this writing.
Detectives are also in the process of identifying multiple other accomplices believed to have participated in the crime either directly or indirectly. These individuals may face charges relating to obstruction of justice, theft, and tampering with a crime scene.
“This was not a random act,” CPD stated. “We believe several individuals were involved, either in the planning, execution, or aftermath of this homicide, and we are committed to ensuring that justice is served for Alyson Elien and his family.”
