Homicide Investigation Underway in Sunnyvale: Suspect Jesus Aguilera Identified
SUNNYVALE, CALIFORNIA — The Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety (DPS) has launched a homicide investigation following a fatal shooting that occurred on the evening of Thursday, May 29, 2025. Authorities have identified the suspect as 44-year-old Jesus Aguilera, a resident of Sunnyvale.
At approximately 7:42 p.m., DPS officers responded to a 911 call reporting multiple gunshots near a residence in the 900 block of South Wolfe Road. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male victim lying outside the residence suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Despite officers’ immediate efforts to administer medical aid, the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the deceased has not been released, pending notification of next of kin.
Following an initial investigation and witness accounts, Jesus Aguilera has been identified as the suspect in the fatal shooting. Aguilera is described as a Hispanic male, 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighing approximately 190 pounds, with brown eyes and a bald head. He is believed to be armed and dangerous.
DPS officials are urging the public to exercise extreme caution. Do not attempt to approach or engage Aguilera if he is seen. Instead, call 911 immediately to report his location.
As the manhunt continues, authorities are working around the clock to gather evidence, interview witnesses, and trace Aguilera’s possible movements. The motive behind the shooting remains under investigation, and law enforcement officials have not ruled out the possibility of a domestic or personal dispute.
“This is a deeply troubling and violent act that has shaken our community,” said a Sunnyvale DPS spokesperson. “Our officers are committed to bringing the suspect to justice and ensuring the safety of our neighborhoods. We are asking for the public’s assistance in locating Mr. Aguilera.”
