19-Year-Old New Braunfels Man Dies in Guadalupe County Motorcycle Crash

GUADALUPE COUNTY, Texas – A tragic motorcycle accident in Guadalupe County claimed the life of a young New Braunfels man Saturday afternoon, leaving family, friends, and the community mourning.

According to Guadalupe County Sheriff Joshua Ray, deputies were dispatched shortly before 1 p.m. to the 9800 block of FM 467, located between Clift Lane and Kubena Road, after reports of a single-vehicle motorcycle wreck.

When law enforcement and first responders arrived, they discovered the rider, later identified as Steven Daniel Hernandez, 19, of New Braunfels. Despite life-saving efforts, Hernandez was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities have not released specific details about what caused the crash, but the incident remains under investigation. The stretch of FM 467 where the crash occurred is a rural two-lane road, often traveled by local residents and commuters.

Sheriff Ray expressed condolences to the Hernandez family, noting that every fatal crash is a devastating reminder of how quickly lives can be lost on the roadway. “Our hearts go out to the family of this young man during such a difficult time,” Ray said.

Motorcycle crashes, while less frequent than car accidents, often result in more severe outcomes due to the lack of protective barriers. Safety officials continue to urge riders to wear helmets, use protective gear, and exercise caution, especially on rural highways where curves, uneven surfaces, and higher speeds can contribute to dangerous situations.

Community members in New Braunfels have already begun sharing condolences online, remembering Hernandez as a kind-hearted young man with a promising future.

No other vehicles or individuals were involved in the crash.

The investigation is ongoing, and additional details may be released as they become available.
