Jackson, MS – A violent shooting at a Jackson gas station has left one young man dead and two women injured, marking yet another heartbreaking incident of gun violence in the community.
According to the Jackson Police Department (JPD), the shooting took place on the evening of Tuesday, September 30, 2025, in the 3300 block of Bailey Avenue. Officers responded to the scene after reports of gunfire and discovered multiple victims suffering from gunshot wounds.
Authorities confirmed that Joshua Davis, 19, tragically lost his life in the shooting. Davis was struck when suspects opened fire at a vehicle parked at the gas station. Despite emergency efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene, leaving family and friends devastated by the sudden loss of his young life.
Two women, ages 21 and 50, were also wounded during the gunfire. Both were quickly transported to a local hospital for treatment. Their conditions have not yet been disclosed, but officials said they are expected to recover.
Interim Jackson Police Chief and Hinds County Sheriff Tyree Jones provided an update on the investigation, stating that the suspects are believed to be at least two males driving a black Jeep. Witnesses said the suspects fired multiple rounds into the victims’ vehicle before fleeing. Investigators later recovered the Jeep in a nearby area, though no arrests have yet been announced.
“This is a tragic incident that has once again shaken our city,” Chief Jones said. “We are actively working to identify and apprehend the individuals responsible. We need the public’s help to bring justice for the victims and their families.”
