17-Year-Old Accidentally Kills Mom While Trying to Protect Her
A 17-year-old boy is now facing charges after accidentally shooting his own mother while trying to protect her from his abusive stepfather.
This sad event happened on April 18, when police say the boy, known as J.G., came home and found his stepdad, Ziare Dalton, beating his mom, Amber Gray ( Amber Monique ).
According to court documents, the mom called 911 and told the dispatcher, “He’s hitting me, now he’s hitting my son.”
Moments later, J.G. went downstairs with a gun. Police say about 10 shots were heard on the 911 call before it suddenly cut off.
His stepdad, Dalton, was shot but survived. Sadly, his mom — Amber Gray — was also shot and died 4 days later.
A neighbor told investigators she was shot in the head. She leaves behind four children, including a baby who had just started to walk.
J.G. is now facing gun charges because he had a weapon even though he had a past juvenile felony.
Dalton, the stepfather, has been charged with felony murder for his role in the deadly fight.
