14-Year-Old Charged With Double Homicide in Carrolltown

Cambria County, Pa. — A 14-year-old boy from Cambria County is facing multiple charges, including two counts of criminal homicide, after authorities say he fatally stabbed his mother and another woman inside their Carrolltown home Monday evening.

The incident unfolded around 6:00 p.m. on September 29, 2025, when state police responded to a residence in the 100 block of Flick Avenue following reports of a possible double homicide.

Inside the home, troopers discovered the bodies of Olivia Lee Courtney, 32, the suspect’s mother, and Ashley Renee Cook, 38, a family friend who lived at the residence. Both women had sustained multiple stab wounds and were pronounced dead at the scene.

According to a criminal complaint, the suspect — identified as Judah Courtney, age 14 — initially approached neighbors and told them that his mother and a family friend had been killed. He reportedly claimed he had searched the home and did not see anyone else inside, adding ominously, “They’re going to think I did it.”

Neighbors told investigators that during a walk shortly afterward, Courtney made further comments such as, “I just can’t believe this all happened,” before ultimately admitting, “I did it.”

Courtney’s girlfriend also provided police with disturbing communications from him. She stated that he had sent her a message reading, “I killed my parents,” followed by “JK” (an abbreviation for just kidding). Later, she received a video in which he claimed he had found the victims’ bodies after getting out of the shower.

During an interview with state police, investigators said Courtney confessed to killing both women. He also turned over three knives he admitted using in the attack, along with bloody clothing that he had attempted to dispose of.

Authorities confirmed that both victims resided in the home with the teenager.

Courtney is being charged as an adult with the following offenses:

  • Two counts of criminal homicide

  • Four felony counts of aggravated assault with intent to cause serious bodily injury

  • Three misdemeanor counts of possession of instruments of crime

  • One misdemeanor count of tampering with evidence

He was taken into custody and remains held pending further court proceedings.

The investigation is ongoing, as authorities continue to piece together what led to the brutal double killing. The Cambria County community has been left shaken by the violence, struggling to understand how such a tragedy could occur within a family home.
